Could it be that these passages are similar because they are talking about the same event? You might say that they are clearly speaking of the same event but some people would say otherwise. Why? One of the reasons why someone would say that these passages are irrelevant is due to presuppositions that redirect their thinking. Before they come to these passages they already have a working theology in place, and if their theology isn't set aside, these passages will be handled to fit their theology, thus, not allowing the passages to speak for themselves.
